Matthew and Chris spoke
on the theme: “The Blessings of Pentecost” at the Myempere
and Kitettika conferences. Over 300 attended both
conferences.
Kristina (11) and Sophie (5)
coped very well in the country. Pictured are the miracle
babies. A pastor who chaired the Myempere conference prayed
17 years for a child: the Lord blessed him and his wife with
twins!
Thanks must go to those who gave equipment.
The strimmer made it safely, along with bibles, DVD player,
digital camera, mobile phones, laptop, and other computer
equipment. Peter (pictured) and Rose were delighted. They
send their love to everyone. The children did a sketch for
300 primary children in their assembly. The response was
phenomenal!!
P.A. equipment is transported to the market
place with a tractor! The crusades in the evening
were remarkable. They were not part of the programme
but as soon as we arrived we were asked to do one on
the Sunday night. They proved to be so popular and
well attended that they ran for three consecutive
nights.
Wedding
We travelled to the Bududda, near the Kenyan border, to
contribute to the wedding of Stephen and Josephine. The
journey was an ordeal. The road had been dug up for
major stretches; it was like driving in a sandstorm. It
was lovely to see the bride and groom and members of
their family and the church. The whole village turned
out with great excitement.
Soon after the wedding we set off for Kampala but by
9:00pm the road had got the better of us and we decided
to take refuge in a very bleak “hotel” in Jinja. Our
room suffered from dampness and cockroaches and
resources were limited by now and we had to make do with
one bed for the whole family. Our decision to stay the
night proved to be led by God. Soon after we entered the
hotel we heard gun shots from the Kampala road.
Nevertheless we all slept well and were awoken at 5:30am
by a call to prayer. This proved to be most helpful
since we needed to be on our way to reach Kitettika for
the various services.
Sunday at Kitettika
Sunday at Kitettika proved to be very busy. We arrived
in Kitettika in time for the services: morning service,
youth sermon, ladies meeting and evening crusade.
Kristina participated in a children’s dance much to the
delight of everyone.
Matembe
A visit to Matembe brought much joy to the locals. The
journey, 180km in total, was very demanding because most
of it was on dirt track. We were able to visit the farm
on the way and were delighted to hear that it now
provides two days worth of food for the school and
workers on the site. However the Matembe church had been
severely damaged by an earth tremor and storm. The
people are extremely needy in this area. Most of those
who came to meet us did not have a bible and we received
many requests for help. We are praying about a proposal
to start a pig project (£800) in the area to raise funds
for the various needs particularly orphans.
