Dear Friends
The East Africa conference. Thank you so much for praying.
We were encouraged to gather 27 delegates, who are the organizers for
Living Hope meetings in East Africa. Brothers from Uganda came representing
Mympere Kampala, Bushinee and Biseruka. Rev Augustine came from Rwanda
and the brothers from Tanzania were there. Also we had Kenyan brothers
who represented seminars planned in Nairobi, Mombassa and Kisumu. It
was so good to see the friendship that is building between the brothers
and the genuine interest they have in one another.
A Worthing school took a discipleship programme I have
developed, and they printed and produced it in booklet form and each
delegate had a copy. We worked through the material and had some fun
learning scriptures as well as the teaching. One session was so filled
with Gods presence as we invited the Holy Spirit to move among
us. There was like a taste of revival as we remembered those who shed
their blood in East Africa for the gospels sake and the sense
that a new move of God was to blow across that part of the world. It
was good to pray, teach and discuss future plans. Also to distribute
105 Bibles.
Tanzania
We left for Arusha arriving at our hotel at 1am. The next two days
were very encouraging. One session again stood out. We had shared about
the holiness of God and the interpreter called the Pastors to repentance.
The presence of the Lord was very moving as Father, Son and Holy Spirit
came among us. It was humbling to learn that LHM has been used to bring
pastors together and that it was unusual for this to happen in this
place. The brothers had fully owned the conference & handled most
of the administration so I was able to concentrate on preaching. We
gave out 20 Bibles.
Kisumu
David, like everybody who goes to Kisumu, had a tremendous time. The
hunger for the Word of God is almost insatiable as one preaches morning,
noon and night. Friday and Saturday meetings went into the early part
of the next day. Click here for
David's full report.
Nairobi
The recent elections encourage Kenyan Christians, however the new government
which is pressing ahead with free education for all under 12, is facing
big challenges. The new president and vice president have health problems,
a plane and car crash has taken the lives of newly elected people. Family
TV continues to work well with us and the Keswick bookshop gives us
very good service with providing Bibles and other materials. They have
links in Uganda and Tanzania that look like working for us which will
be very helpful. A swiftly arranged seminar in the slum areas of Kwangare
Saturday & Mathare Sunday saw about 100 leaders gather. Again God's
presence and work was very evident and a strategy has developed from
this, which means we will have area seminars and central seminars. This
serves us well and uses the strengths of the committee who have good
influence in their locality.
We returned tired but praising God for all He had done, knowing health
and safety in some fairly tough situations. Since being home I discovered
that my friend & Council of Reference member Dr Ray Whittle died
Friday January 24th. Ray gave me the chance to minister in Spain. We
thank God for Rays help and support, rejoice he is with the Lord,
and pray for his wife June and their family. Elaines uncle is
in hospital having had a heart attack. We would value prayer for him.
Our gift day this year is February 23rd and more details are enclosed.
Please pray about that & respond as the Lord leads you. God bless
& thank you for your prayers.
God bless
