Praise the
Lord we are safely back from another trip where without doubt we saw the Lord at
work. Numbers are not everything but about 100+ registered at Jinga, 400 at
Kittetikka, 500 at Biseruka and 60 were baptised in Lake Victoria In Nairobi we
saw Nicholas and Marilynn marry and then 100 leaders registered at the Nairobi
conference. Reports from Kisumu indicate another wave of blessing with many
professing salvation and good numbers at the meetings. Rwanda too saw numbers
grow and about 150 were present at the seminars. A trip up country was hampered
by transport problems but it was exciting to see 300 young people attending a
youth conference and a good response to the preached word. The lunchtime meeting
in Kigali was also a good opportunity and 4 professed salvation. The team was
greatly blessed to have Rev Stephen Kiguru from Kenya with us. His contribution
was so much appreciated and the sense of an international team was good. This
was also true of Peter Kasozi ministry in Jinga alongside me. It is great to
have these African brothers alongside and to see their ministry honoured.
Networking and linking people together is a very exciting thing to
observe.
We
continue to have links with the Congo a very troubled part of Africa and have to
consider what the Lord is saying re ministry there.
It was so
encouraging how the team members from life community church Horsham flowed with
the ministry and contributed so powerfully. With their help Living Hope was able
to bless Peter and Rose in Uganda and further establish the resource centre in
Kisumu. They now have a bigger room at no extra cost, a TV, a video and a
generator. This is a great blessing and it is so good to see James enthusiasm as
the centre is put to good effect with many passing through studying the
materials and getting trained up in the word of God. A few more books were
added to the Uganda resource centre.
It was good to
meet Archbishop Gilbert Deya on the plane and renew friendship, we were blessed
by a wonderful buffet meal at the Landmark Hotel prepared by David Obiero who
works with a very poor church in Mathare Nairobi and was recently here in the UK
to receive his degree as a top chef.
In the midst of
all the expenses for the conferences it was good to pay impact radio Uganda,
family TV Kenya and deliver tapes to LightHouse Uganda. It was also good because
of a kind donation to pass on some money to a missionary in the Sudan working
with Bishop Stephen.
David Eaton and
I continue to work together well and our roles are getting clarified in this
ever-developing ministry.
Steve did very
well adjusting to many changes and contributed well to the team times. He
particularly enjoyed some time with the children at Kittetikka and presented a
guitar to Roy Kasozi which our local music shop had kindly donated. Lhm Uganda
is all but officially registered and we have found a very good route in Kenya to
do the same. This will be particularly useful when teams go in the future
without me.
Elaine and the
boys at home are well,Philip enjoys America and we hear good reports. A number
of prophetic words have been encouragingly pointing out how the ministry is to
grow and so we have booked the Evangelical alliance in London for a day
conference Feb 10th 2004. The lhm Sunday prompted a very good
response and a sense of the Lord’s direction and so we look to him.
We have a
Living Hope meeting July 29th and a BBQ August 18th
