Romania trip November 2002

Dear Friends

We arrived safe after good flights in Cluj, and were met by Pastor John Ianchis. We were getting ready to rest at 1am when I received a phone call on my mobile from Worthing hospital, telling me our Aunt Dorothy had died. Early the next day I told Elaine and began to set in motion the funeral.

We arrived in Jibou Friday morning and began the conference. The attentiveness of the people who came was very rewarding. Pastor John has 21 churches in his Philadelphia group, and also other churches are his friends. Transport and accommodation difficulties prevented full representation, but 16 churches were present, and the expenses were fully met. Praise the Lord!

Sunday was a very special day. I was urged to give a summary of the discipleship teaching to the church, and then complete the program I had set. A young man professed faith in Christ at the end of the meeting. We celebrated one of the young people’s birthday, and in the afternoon we travelled to a nearby village and entered a room filled with people for a baptism, dedication, communion and washing of feet service! I was given complete freedom to preach, and God’s presence was very keenly felt as an older couple came with tears, to Christ.

The church was charged with a sense of God’s power and the risen Christ in our midst. The baptism in a narrow skip outside was very humble & simple, but profoundly challenging. The meeting began at 2pm & finished at 6pm!

Monday’s visit to churches went ahead, and to see a number of buildings in construction in very poor places was very good. Crossing a river by current power was also quite an experience. The gypsy people are very sincere & the needs are great, but God is working. John Howell’s role was so helpful as he contributed into the real need for administration and good order. We returned praising God!

The past year has seen many blessings. Leaders from many nations have gathered & have been taught the Word of God, people have been saved, healed & baptized into the body of Christ. Many miles have been safely negotiated in the air and on the road, God has always provided; every bill is paid. Elaine and the boys support me and sacrifice a lot. This year has seen the loss of friends and family but Jesus is Lord.

God bless you.
