Travels.
The flights and train journeys were very long but we
knew God’s protection. Although at times it was testing,
quite remarkably it all came together and we did not
fail to keep any appointment. Praise the Lord!
Divine appointments
Ray and I paused for a word of prayer as we waited for
take off on the plane. As I opened my eyes an air
stewardess was watching and asked that we pray for her.
On the journey back she was there again and asked for
prayer and shared some specific areas. When on the train
to Rajamundry we discovered our fellow passenger like us
had got a seat at the last minute. He was delighted to
share with us because on a previous journey another
Christian had prayed for him to get a job which avoided
commuting. This had happened so he was very open.
Conferences
Thankachan's conference saw numbers rise into the
hundreds and there was a clear move of the Holy Spirit
in the meetings. Our last morning saw preaching,
baptism, and dedication of a baby, ordaining new pastors
and communion.
S.J. Kumar's church was a new church in a predominantly
Hindu village. 4 loud speakers on the roof called people
to pray and worship. As early as 5am the call came, not
all the team responded! There were apparently 86 pastors
and many churches represented. They were hungry for
God’s word. The worship led by a small group of men was
exceedingly active and joyous.
G.S. Kumar put on a very good day for pastors and again
they seemed to drink in the word like very thirsty men.
Baptisms. 29 were baptised during the trip. The waters
were quite a challenge but again the joy of seeing a
variety of men and women obey Christ was a great
privilege.
Salvation.
India is a challenging place to preach the gospel and
Indian people are shy to respond. However about 10 gave
their lives to Christ for which we are very grateful.
Living Hope Arrows Volume 2. S.J. has produced an
excellent workbook and I believe this will be an
excellent resource for God’s people.
Television
Pastor Joy, Thankachan's son worked with me on 4
programmes and we have a deal that a weekly 15-minute
programme will be shown on two channels. One channel is
free. Praise the Lord! Before one viewing was over,
people were ringing for prayer.
Visiting a church, which is being rebuilt, and opening a
new church plant were all encouraging times. David is
still there as I write doing useful ministry, Tony was a
great encouragement and Ray was much loved and won many
new friends.
I have asked S.J. Kumar to head up Living Hope India and
he has graciously agreed to do that. We will continue to
fellowship gratefully with our other friends in India.
Praise God for all His goodness! For Ray and me, our
last meeting witnessed our Indian brothers praying and
crying to the Lord for the nations. Unforgettable!
