Trip of Bangladesh in 2003
Religious Situation and Christians
About 88% population is Muslim with another 10% are Hindu.
The remaining 2% are Christians, animists, Buddhists. The
church is split into two groups: the visible church,
consists of converts from Hinduism and the invisible church,
which consists of converts Islam.
Islam become the state religion in 1988.
The constitution promises all citizens the right to profess.
practice or propagate any religion (article 41) the
government has introduced number of restrictions to
the Christian community and continues to do so because of
pressure from Islamic fundamentalism.
One restriction is the registration that all Christian
organization need to be registered as government
organization (NGO) and restrictions of printing bibles.
Distribution of bibles is limited to Christians.
I served the Bangladesh Christians with the fellowship of
Community Centre for Handicapped. I stayed there 2 months (
March and April of 2003).
This community centre is located in Mymensingh. There is
small church and every evening Christian people worship the
Lord. This mission began in 1987.
 We
worked among poor Christian families and their children.
There are six small schools for these children. On every
weekend we visited Christians in Jails who were imprisoned.
These Christians were wrongly imprisoned.
I visited their small school in poor communities and helped
teach creative activities skills.
During the two month I got a chance to participate with much
zeal in these activities and worked together with the local
people in cities and villages to share the Love of God. It
was joy to them that I tried to learn their Bengali language
quickly.
Please pray for the Christians of Bangladesh that there may
be better protection from harm and harassment and that the
Christian message may be heard and received by all.
We, the 714 individuals representing
different cultures and religions of the 19 countries /
territories of Asia participated in the 3rd Asian youth Day,
on the theme "Asian Youth For Peace" from the 9th to the
15th of August 2003 in Bangalore , India.
Peace is the heartfelt aspiration of
all and not merely a conflict-free situation. We acknowledge
God as the source of all peace and it demands congruence
within oneself with others and with nature. Harmony within
oneself is the seed of peace. We believe, as Christians that
authentic peace comes through Jesus Christ, which is to be
shared with our fellow human beings.
During these days of Asian Youth Day
III we witnessed many struggles for peace and we were
inspired by their responses in small and big ways. All this
made us realize that peace is possible in spite of our
differences.
The 21st century presents to us the
host of challenging realities. Militarism seen as the
primary solution to any political or economic problem. The
issue or arms race is a growing phenomenon due to the
mistrust between communities and nations. With more wars,
there may be more refugees and internally displaced people,
compounded by terrorism, fundamentalism and suppression of
religious freedom. Asia would become a very unstable region
economically and politically. With all of these conditions,
acute poverty is becoming widespread in certain parts of
Asia.
All this puts lot of pressure on the
families and individuals, resulting in migration, housing,
food, employment and health care problems. The poor and the
powerless are most vulnerable to human rights abuses and
injustice. We can can not see this as mere issues anymore,
but as violation towards the children of God.
We commit ourselves fully to God,
compassionate love and mercy, thus we will "Do justice ,
Love kindness and walk humbly"
He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is]
good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do
justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
(Micah 6:8)
The countries that have participated in this program are :
Pakistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hmong Kong, India,
Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Nepal,
Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand,
Vietnam.
Please keep us in our prayer that Lord bless us with peace
and love.
Trip to China & N Korea 2001 &
2004
In November 2004 my wife Stephanie and
I made our first missionary trip together to China. This is
Stephanie second missionary trip to China. The main purpose
of this trip is to bring Bibles written in Chinese into the
country. Stephanie has successfully been able to smuggle 60
bibles into China. In the first trip there were 15
missionaries and thanks to be to Jesus each person made it
through customs each carrying 40 bibles.
On the second trip
40 missionaries made it through customs carrying 20 bibles
each. Although the Chinese government speaks of religious
freedom, this simply is not true once inside the country of
China. The Christians need to congregate in underground
churches and in the middle of the night just to worship.
Right now 1 in 17 Christians has a Bible in China. Can you
imagine sharing your bible with 17 others? This is why it
is so important to bring Bibles in to China.
Government officials continued to scrutinize closely contact
between citizens and foreigners involved in religion. The
Government detained some citizens for providing religious
information to foreigners and prevented some religious
figures from travelling abroad. We were not allowed to visit
any Christian families because they were afraid that
later the police were going to investigate why we had
visited them.
There is a beautiful novel by Randy Alcorn called Safely
Home that depicts accurately the story of a Christian
Chinese family and the persecution they endured.
The second part of our missionary trip to China was to visit
orphans who were abandoned by their parents due to either
the gender of the child or birth defects. This particular
orphanage is run by and American couple who gives each child
a Biblical name along with their Chinese name and makes sure
each one is baptized.
As a part of Stephanie's first missionary trip to China in
2001 her team was able to get on to the North Korean
border. For 6 months prior to this trip the entire team
fasted and prayed for winds to blow in the right direction
from the South Korean border into North Korea.
We worked in the middle of the night launching balloons with the entire
New Testament printed on a balloon. We filled the balloons
with helium and launched 247 of them.

The Lord blessed us that night with very strong winds
blowing these balloons into North Korea. Our prayers go out
to all the North Koreans who live under such deprived
conditions and we are trying to get the word of God to
them.
Please pray for Chinese & North Korean Christian that Lord
open doors for them to practice their faith in Him.
